Letterpress

While my formal training is in book binding, I also work full time as a letterpress printer at Woodside Press in the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard. I find a lot of overlap in the two trades; they are both time consuming, repetitive and some would say incredibly boring tasks. But I love them both equally.

When I can, I find ways to combine the two disciplines to create small editions of chapbooks or use the typesetting facilities at Woodside to create labels for my hand bound books.

Shown here are some examples of my letterpress work which, for the most part, utilize traditional techniques including handset type and Linotype type casting as well as less traditional forms of relief printmaking.
